Thomas Merton’s autobiography “The Seven Story Mountain” was published by Harcourt Brace in 1948.  The title refers to the mountain of Purgatory in Dante's The Divine Comedy.

Merton left a vast collection of poetry and journal writings.

The Other Side of the Mountain: The End of the Journey; chronicles the last two years of Merton's life, during the political and social upheaval of the Vietnam War era.
