Steve Wick's "The Long Night: William L. Shirer and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"


Today we present Steve Wick, talking about his biography “The Long Night: William L. Shirer and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”.


During the 1930s, Shirer brought the events in Europe to the English speaking world through his broadcasts on Edward R. Murrow's CBS.  Shirer was the first to warn the world of the danger posed by the Nazi government. His history  The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich was published in 1960.


Steve Wick is a Senior Editor at Newsday. He has been a journalist for 30 years. He shared two Pulitzer Prizes for local reporting. 



“The Long Night: William L. Shirer and the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” was published by Macmillan in October 2012.

Mr. Wick is also author of Bad Company: Drugs, Hollywood and the Cotton Club Murder and 
Heaven and Earth: The Last Farmers of the North Fork.


Steve Wick spoke at Canio’s Books, Sag Harbor in May of this year.
