2015 Poetry Marathon - Joe Pintauro - Harvey Shapiro - Meena Alexander



The 21st annual Poetry Marathon at the East Hampton Town Marine Museum in Amagansett, New York was held on Sunday afternoons last summer.  


In July 2015 playwright and poet Joe Pintauro read the work of the late Harvey Shapiro and his own work and India-born poet Meena Alexander read from her work.

Playwright and poet Joe Pintauro was born in 1930 and died in May 2018.  

Joe Pintauro is best known for his plays which include Raft of the Medusa, Heaven and Earth and Men’s Lives.   He received the 2005 John Steinbeck Literary Award.

Mr. Pintauro read from A Momentary Glory: Last Poems by Harvey Shapiro published in 2014 by Wesleyan University Press.

Her previous work includes Birthplace with Buried Stones - 2013  and Quickly Changing River - 2008, from TriQuarterly Books/Northwestern University.
She teaches at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York
