Anthony Brandt: The Man Who Ate His Boots: Search for the Northwest Passage

Anthony Brandt talks about his book "The Man Who Ate His Boots: The Tragic History of the Search for the Northwest Passage" The book recounts the many failed 19th century attempts by British expeditions to find the Arctic route from the Atlantic to the Pacific. When the Northwest Passage was finally discovered it was completely frozen year round but by the summer of 2007 and 2008, 40 feet of ice had melted and ships were free to pass through.

The book was published by Knopf in 2010 and in paperbook by Anchor Books in 2011.
